We are devastated.
Today we lost an internationalist, an activist, a trade unionist, a defender of workers, a champion of the oppressed, an ally of the Palestinians … today we lost a friend.
#Africa4Palestine joins Nehawu, the YCL SA, the Xaba family, friends, colleagues and comrades in mourning the loss of our dear brother, friend and #Africa4Palestine Board Member – Cde Khaya Xaba.
Xaba was spokesperson of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) as well as a Board Member of #Africa4Palestine. He was a beloved friend to so so so many of us.
Comrade Xaba also previously served as the National Spokesperson of the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA). He was also on the board of the Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA) and sat on its ICT steering committee and the Finance and Remuneration committee. Xaba studied Journalism at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and Public Administration at the University of the Western Cape.
Our heartfelt condolences to Khaya’s friends, family, colleagues and comrades in this very painful hour.
