Al-Qalam 
I had the privilege of attending a presentation at Drommedaris School in Rieger Park, Johannesburg. The South African Muslim Charitable Trust (SAMCT) made a R400 000 donation towards new computers and an upgrade to the school’s ICT room.
Judge Mohamed Navsa, who grew up in Rieger Park, was instrumental in securing this donation and was present to see it come to life — a full-circle moment for someone giving back to the very community that shaped their journey. What struck me most was the calibre of the school itself: the visible commitment of the educators and learners, and the professionalism behind every detail of the event.
Registration was managed entirely through QR codes, and a second QR code — linked to the cloud — played footage of the computer room before and after the upgrade. Well done to the South African Muslim Charitable Trust, Judge Navsa, and the entire Drommedaris School community. Schools like this deserve far more support, and I’d encourage other organisations to take note of what’s possible.
