Overview
This is a Peugeot 5008 like never before. It’s not the usual SUV-like vehicle; its more the flamboyant fashionista in this segment of vehicles.
It’s no secret that consumers are less likely to turn to Peugeot as a first choice -informed in part by concerns about after sales service and about reliability. But there’s no doubt that things are changing. With more and more sexy models entering the market; Peugeot is not a brand that can easily be ignored any more.
The world is turning towards SUV-like vehicles with demand growing at an incredible pace. With this is mind many manufacturers, including Peugeot, are creating more rugged looking crossovers like the 5008.
The rear of the 5008 is especially conspicuous – it has a more upright tail enabling more luggage storage space. The two seats at the rear, albeit constricted and uncomfortable for adults, has its advantages.
On a long journey along the open road, one gets to really appreciate how spacious this vehicle is. The front passenger seat can also fold down, allowing you to carry longer items, such as curtain rails.
The 1,6-litre engine develops 121 kW and 240 N.m. For those who may find response time a wee bit sluggish, the ‘sport’ mode helps significantly.

The infotainment screen is 8-inches and is Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatible. Under the main info screen are a pair of air vents and a row of distinct ‘piano’ buttons.
The one thing the Peugeot has going for it on the inside is space, especially at the rear. The seats are comfortable and there is ample legroom. However, the two rearmost seats, as mentioned above, are compact and suitable for kids only. The driving position is a little weird though as the dials need to be read over the steering wheel.
