“Is it indifference or lethargy? How on earth does our government insist that Palestinians – of all people – require visas to enter our country?
The salt rubbed in the wound of callousness is that Israeli’s are exempt! This is a sheer disgrace and an affront to the rhetoric of solidarity. Wake up Pretoria and end this disgraceful discrimination!” (Ronnie Kasrils former Minister of Intelligence in South Africa)
Ever since mid-December, civil society organisations headed by the Media Review Network, South Africa launched a campaign to get the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) to remedy a grave injustice against oppressed Palestinians by granting visa-free travel privileges to all Palestinians wanting to visit South Africa.
Since then, many prominent South Africans and Internationalists have signed the online petition. This is phase one. In the coming weeks, the campaign will be intensified so that we can make 2021 the year for #visafreepalestine.
The Media Review Network (MRN) humbly requests that you join the campaign by signing the petition at Avaaz.org .
