After a two-year break, “Taking Islam to the People (TIP”) is back with another Family Eidgah to once again “reconnecting with our community – but at a new venue”

In a statement, the TIP said, “We are back, so join us on Eid-ul-Fitr 2024. Many were worried about the gap we left, about the family traditions you had built around the Eidgah, and about the need for an inclusive space that is welcoming to all.

“Insha’Allah, we can bring all of this back with new energy and commitment. The TIP organising team is a small group with few funds and limited energy, so it’s taken us a while to find our groove again after COVID-19. Finally, we have found a format that takes care of all our needs. And we look forward to seeing you again.

“What to expect? As usual, we will have two speakers. The space will be wheelchair-friendly and open to anyone who wants to pray in the community. We are working hard to find a sign language interpreter (get in touch if you can help).

Remember to bring your own Musallah and make wudhu at home (or bring your spray bottle). Most importantly, bring your family and friends, and bring your Eid energies. For our part, we’ll do our best to create a spiritual family space that honours the diversity of Islam, a tapestry of richness and beauty coalescing in one space.

This year’s Eidgah will be at St. Anthony’s Hall, starting at 6:30 am.
