As we stand at the threshold to Ramadan – eager to embrace the opportunities for spiritual and physical restoration that this sacred month gifts us with – the Islamic Relief team is also excitedly preparing for our busiest time of the year.
Every year, we distribute Ramadan food packs to as many families as possible, who are facing financial challenges. In 2024, with the mercy of Allah SWT and the support of our donors and partners, we were able to distribute Ramadan food packs to more than 16,000 people across Southern Africa, and more than one million people across the globe. Thanks to generous donor support, we were also able to gift 30,000 children with toys and treats for Eid.
With your support, we can ensure that even more families confronted with financial difficulties receive the nourishment that they need to observe Ramadan in good health and spirits. Our Ramadan distributions will span 32 countries this year, prioritising elderly, single-parent and female-headed households. Ramadan food packs contain staples such as rice, lentils, cooking oil, maize meal, dates and oats, providing families with the essentials to sustain themselves throughout the blessed month.
May we all reach Ramadan with our hearts and wealth cleansed and our bodies and resolve strong, Insha’Allah. May our abstinence from food and drink deepen our connection and gratitude to our Creator and renew our compassion and solidarity with those from whom water, food, and other basic human rights are being withheld, Ameen.
