The Southern Africa Dawah Network (SADN) has just opened a new masjid called Masjid Tawbah in the Muiskraal area in Madadeni Newcastle, thanks to a generous donation by the Sharjah Charity and the UAE Embassy in Pretoria.
The opening program was attended by fewer than 50 people in compliance with Covid-19 social gathering regulations.
Amongst those present at the opening were Moulana Akoo the Principal of Darul Uloom Newcastle, local councilor Mr Danisa, the ward committee member Mr Alfred Zwane, the local Muslim community and general public.
Sh. Omar Gama, the Masjid Chairman welcomed the audience. He addressed the gathering on the beauty of Islam in imparting good character, community development and in promoting a caring society across all races. He invited non-Muslims to come to the masjid and discover for themselves the teachings of Islam. He further thanked all the donor institutions that contributed in building the Masjid.
The councilor thanked the Muslim community for constructing the infrastructure for the advancement of the community. He promised to pay visits to explore more about Islam.
“SADN thanks Allah for the cooperation that exists between Sharjah Charity and SADN and thanks the UAE embassy for facilitating the funding of the Masjid,” a spokesperson said.
The program ended with a gracious dua prayer by Moulana Akoo after which elders of the community were taken for a tour of the masjid.
