Plans are underway to select the final participants for the annual Laylatun Nujoom “Night of Stars” contest to be held at NMJ Hall on March 1 – and potential contestants are encouraged to audition for the event on February 24.
The contest, hosted by the Lajpaal Foundation, will select participants in three categories, Qira`at (Three minutes of Holy Quraan recitation), Naat/Nasheed (Three minutes of Islamic Song) and Speech (Five minutes).
For the first time this year, the contest will be introducing a new category – Islamic Quiz. Institutes may enter five students below 12 years old. Two institutes will compete against each other at a time, judges will ask random questions and whoever answers the fastest will be awarded with a point. The topic is on Islamic History,
First place winners will win an Umrah voucher and all selected contestants will receive awards in the form of trophies and certificates. Any male between the ages of 8- 20 years may enter and entries are free.
The auditions will take place on February 24 at the Lajpaal Foundation Centre, 78 Mallinson Road Overport.
“This is an opportunity to uplift the youth and get them involved in activities that will spiritually uplift them”, a spokesman said.
