IQRAA Trust has donated R250 000 towards the purchase of new bus to transport 72 children of the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre – and the gesture was much appreciated by the charitable organization.
Mrs. Mandy Goble, Director of the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre said in 2007, they were fortunate to receive donations of two Toyota Quantum mini buses. “However, these vehicles were becoming old and less reliable and needed to be replaced with a safer and reliable option for our youth and children”.
“A formal appeal was submitted to the Trustees of the IQRAA Trust for consideration, which yielded positive results. In addition to the Trust’s donation of R250 000, we had sold one of our older vehicles to cover the shortfall needed to purchase our new school bus. We are truly thankful to the Trust for their kind and generous support to our organisation!” Goble said.
The Durban Child & Youth Care Centre’s Mission is to promote a sense of physical and emotional well-being, through a safe and therapeutic environment, for children who are at risk because of neglect, abuse and orphanhood.
“Our aim is to provide services and programmes that are effective, efficient and relevant to the needs of vulnerable children whose families endure high levels of unemployment, poverty, crime, domestic violence, various forms of abuse and HIV/AIDS.
“Our resources are used towards providing our children with the opportunity to develop and unearth their individual potential within an environment of nurturing families and communities,” she said.
