In the spirit of celebrating President Nelson Mandela’s centenary, the Caring Sisters Network (CSN) will hand over 100 new desks to young learners of the Addington Primary School in Durban’s South Beach on Wednesday July 18.

The Durban based charity’s DESK Campaign is aimed at continuing Madiba’s legacy of making education as a priority as a means of driving empowerment and social change in the country.

The donation of the new desks will help boost learning at Addington Primary School where pupils are sitting at broken desks which limits writing and work space.

“Many of the children at the school come from impoverished and refugee homes, many are orphans and live in shelters, said Yasiera Mahomed Suliman, one of the coordinators of Caring Sisters Network.

Members of the media and other personalities have been invited to the handover ceremony at 10am.
